RE Syllabus – March 2025

At our school, Religious Education (RE) is taught using the Jigsaw RE syllabus. This approach supports children in developing a secure understanding of different religions, worldviews, values, and beliefs. Jigsaw RE is enquiry-based, reflective, and inclusive, helping pupils to gain knowledge, build respect for others, and explore big questions about faith and life in an age-appropriate way.

Our RE curriculum promotes:

  • Respect for diverse beliefs and cultures
  • Opportunities for thoughtful discussion and reflection
  • Understanding of major world religions and non-religious worldviews
  • Spiritual, moral, social, and cultural development

Further details about the Jigsaw RE syllabus are available on request from the school office.

Right to Withdraw from Religious Education

Parents and carers have the legal right to withdraw their child from all or part of Religious Education (RE). If you are considering this option, we encourage you to contact the Associate / Executive Headteacher to discuss your request. This conversation helps ensure you fully understand the aims of our RE curriculum and the learning your child would miss.

If, after discussion, you wish to proceed with withdrawal, the school will support this and will work with you to arrange appropriate alternative provision for your child during RE lessons.
