Our School Day

Our school doors open at 8.45 and children come into school when they arrive. The bell is rung at 8.50 to signal the start of the school day. Teaching assistants are available to take any urgent messages; teachers are always very busy at this time of day but can normally be available at the end of the day. We request that parents do not come into school in the morning, to encourage your child's independence and to ensure their safety.

Every day starts with a phonic session, following the Read Write Inc scheme, and is usually followed by literacy and numeracy lessons in the morning. Assemblies follow our 'Values Curriculum' which develops and enhances pupils' spiritual, moral, social and cultural education. Our Values were chosen by all members of the school community and give a clear teaching focus which extends through all areas of school life. Morning break is at 10.45 after which lessons continue until 12o'clock.

All children in school are entitled to a free school lunch which are provided for us by St Paul's School or children can bring in their own packed lunch. We provide free milk and water at lunchtime so parents do not need to send in drinks.

Afternoon lessons continue until the end of the school day at 3pm when parents collect their child from their designated class door. Your child’s safety is paramount to us and we ensure that every child is handed over personally to their adult. Your child will not be allowed to leave school with any other adult unless you have informed us. We run a variety of after-school clubs for pupils in Yr1 and 2 which go on until 4pm. Activities range from football, tennis and athletics to hooping, zumba and musical theatre! These clubs are provided free of charge to ensure that all of our children have the opportunity to try new experiences.
